#12 – Rabies
Rabies is one of the most common reasons why people shouldn’t pet wild animals or approach them. The disease is directly transmitted to humans by wild animal bites. Keep that in mind the next time you are about to pet a wild animal. Rabies virus primarily attacks the central nervous system where it does a lot of damage.
The disease ultimately leads to brain death. The onset of rabies resembles the onset of common diseases and includes fever, headaches, and weakness. As the disease makes a progress, patients start to experience anxiety, insomnia, fear of water, and excess saliva production. The disease will lead to death if left ignored. If you ever get bitten by a wild animal, immediately visit the ER to prevent rabies taking its toll on you!
