If your parents forced you to take music lessons, you should be thankful to them. Persons who took music lessons as kids performed better on intelligence tests than people who didn’t have any formal education in music.
There are a lot of pieces of evidence that point out how musicians have functionally different brain structures that people who aren’t musicians. In addition to high intelligence, musical training in childhood is also linked to great memory and low risk of developing mental ailments.
