#15 – The Word “Shark”
People didn’t refer to these ocean creatures as “sharks” since the dawn of times. Actually, the first use of the word “sharks” or “shark” in the English language was recorded in the 1560s. Before the word “shark” was invented, people referred to sharks as “sea dogs.”
Some people also referred to sharks before the word shark was invented as the Spanish tiburón. Well, we must say that it’s far easier to say shark than to say Spanish tiburón.
